What is Propecia?
Propecia (Finasteride) is a FDA-approved drug used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head). Propecia, a pill taken orally, stimulates hair regrowth by blocking the formation of the male hormone, DHT - dihydrotestosterone.

Clinical studies
In clinical studies involving the testing of efficiency of Propecia, results proved that 2 out of 3 men taking Propecia re-grew hair as measured by actual hair counts over time. In fact, it was found men taking a placebo in the same study lost hair.

Caution
Please note that Propecia is not for use by women or children. Immediate medical attention should be sought in the event of a significant overdose. Side effects of Propecia are uncommon, but there are several to keep in mind. A small number of patients complained of reduced libido, and some difficulty in achieving an erection. There have also been testicle discomfort, allergic reactions, swelling in the breast tissue and ejaculation problems. Also, this medicine is for men only. The active ingredient of Propecia can be absorbed through the skin and may cause a problem with the male baby's sex organs.
