Tizanidine
Generic Zanaflex
Usage & Dosage
What is Tizanidine?
Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxer (central alpha-2 adrenergic agonist). It works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain, specifically used to manage muscle spasticity caused by conditions like multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury.
How to use Tizanidine
Take this medication by mouth exactly as prescribed by your physician. Tizanidine is a short-acting medication, and its effects are most noticeable between 1 and 6 hours after dosing. It can be taken with or without food, but you must choose one way and take it consistently, as food can significantly change how the medicine is absorbed.
